My dad told me to always ask for the manager's discount, even when I'm not the manager. Tried it at a car parts place last month and it actually worked.

Honestly that's kind of brilliant. It relies on the fact that most workers won't question it to avoid looking dumb. Just feels like a quick way to get on a store's blacklist though.

You'll get banned right away" is exactly what happened to a buddy of mine who tried this at a grocery store. He got caught on camera and the manager came over within minutes, told him to leave and never come back. Now he has to shop at the place across town just to avoid the awkwardness.
