I paid $40 for a 'premium' online course that was just a guy reading Wikipedia

It was called 'Digital Marketing Mastery' and the guy just read the 'Search engine optimization' page out loud for an hour. I wanted to ask anything about real SEO tips after that waste. Anyone know a good place to learn that stuff for real?

My buddy Mark got a similar course on Facebook ads last year. He paid fifty bucks for what was basically a slideshow of terms you could google. The guy kept saying "targeting is key" but never showed how to actually set up a campaign. Mark was so mad he just went and messed around in Ads Manager himself for a weekend, learned more from free YouTube videos and trial and error. What kind of SEO stuff are you trying to figure out first?

I used to think paying for a course was the only way to get real knowledge, but that story changed my mind completely. The free stuff from Moz and Google's own guides taught me more about real SEO than any paid junk I've seen. Trial and error with your own site or a blog is honestly the best teacher, just pick a topic you care about and start messing with titles and keywords.

What kind of SEO are you trying to do? I used to think you needed a course too, but after a mess like that, I agree with sarahsullivan that just doing it yourself works better. The free guides from Google and Moz are where I finally learned something real.
