Had to pick between a big road atlas and a GPS device for my cross-country drive
I chose the GPS and it failed me twice in rural Montana last month. Now I'm stuck using my phone with no signal for miles. Has anyone else had a GPS let them down on a long trip?

I actually used to swear by my phone for navigation and thought GPS devices were a waste of money. But then I borrowed a friend's old Garmin for a trip out west and it got me through some dead zones where my phone had zero signal. Now I keep a cheap GPS unit in my glovebox just for backup. It's not perfect but it's way better than being stuck with no map and no bars. Sometimes the old tech really does save you when the new stuff fails.
