Debate: Should you book flights directly through the airline or use a third party site like Expedia?
I've been going back and forth on this for years. Last month I booked a round trip to Denver through a third party site and saved $60 total compared to the airline's direct price. But then my flight got delayed and I spent 2 hours on hold with the third party trying to rebook while people who booked direct just walked up to the counter. On the other hand, a friend of mine swears by third party sites for international trips and says he's never had an issue in 5 years. I feel like the direct booking gives you more control when things go wrong, but also costs more upfront. What's your take when it comes to actually dealing with cancellations or changes? Do you think the savings are worth the hassle?

...third party sites are basically playing roulette with your trip except the payout is a sad $60 and the loss is your whole afternoon on hold. I value my sanity more than lunch money savings at this point so I'll eat the extra cost for direct booking every time. The only time I'd risk it is if the savings are big enough to buy me a beer at the gate while I wait for the rebook.

I mean, is it really that serious though @craig.parker? I've had zero issues with third party sites.
