Blew $40 on a fancy notebook that fell apart in 3 days
I picked up this leather-bound journal from a street vendor in Portland last Saturday. The guy said it was handmade and would last forever, so I handed over $40 without thinking twice. By Tuesday the spine completely split when I opened it to page 20. The pages started falling out in clumps, like the glue was just dust or something. I tried to tape it back together but it got worse and now I can't even close it properly. Total waste of cash, and I should've just grabbed a $5 spiral from the drugstore. Anyone else get burned by overpriced junk from a traveling market?

Man that sucks, I had the same thing happen with a "vintage" knapsack I bought at a flea market that fell apart after one hike. It's like these sellers know tourists will never come back to complain.

Oh man, faith_lopez48 that "know tourists will never come back to complain" line hit way too close to home. I bought this "military surplus" backpack from a street vendor in Rome and the strap literally snapped while I was walking to the Colosseum. My laptop almost went flying into a fountain. I guess my only revenge is telling this story every time someone mentions flea market gear. Makes me wonder if they have a secret club where they laugh about all the suckers like us.
