Took the trowel over the brush on a Roman site in Bath and found nothing for 5 hours
Last summer I volunteered on a dig near the Roman baths in Bath and the site lead let me pick between a trowel or a soft brush for the day, so I went with the trowel hoping to hit something fast. I scraped that same 2 by 2 meter square for 5 hours and got nothing but dirt and one rusty nail, while the lady next to me with the brush pulled out a chunk of mosaic tile around hour 3. Did I just pick wrong, or is trowel work always this slow starting out?
