Can we talk about how I blew off the Clovis spear point dates until I saw the lab report
For a long time I figured the whole "first Americans" timeline was settled, like 13,000 years ago and done. A buddy who does CRM work in New Mexico kept telling me about sites pushing back 15,000 or even 16,000 years, and I just nodded and moved on. Then he showed me the 2021 peer reviewed paper on footprints at White Sands, with seed layers dated around 21,000 to 23,000 years back. I sat there and read the OSL methods section twice because I did not want it to be true. What got me was how boring the evidence was, just layer by layer dates and prints, no big claims attached. Now I keep wondering how many museum labels are still wrong, so has anyone here seen a display get updated in person after a find like that?
