C14 dating vs dendrochronology for a Roman site in Britain, I ended up trusting the tree rings way more after a project last spring

The carbon dates gave us a range of 150 years but the oak beams from the same layer matched a known sequence down to the exact growing season, so which method do you guys lean on when they conflict?

Used to trust carbon dating more until I saw how tight dendrochronology can lock things in. That 150 year range feels like a guess next to knowing the exact season a beam was cut. Really opened my eyes to what matching a known sequence can do.

Whoa, exact growing season? That is wild. I would definitely trust those tree rings over a 150 year window
