Update: The girdling root on that maple I cabled last spring was hiding under 2 inches of mulch
I pulled the mulch back 6 months after the cable install and found a root the size of my wrist wrapped halfway around the trunk, so I cut it out and the canopy already looks fuller, anyone else finding girdling roots this late after doing other work on the same tree?
