Tried using a handsaw instead of a chainsaw on a big limb drop and it saved my back

I had a 60 foot limb come down last week and used a Silky Zubat to break it up instead of dragging out the saw. Took longer but I wasn't sore the next day - anyone else switch to manual for cleanup cuts?

Hear you on that one. I did the same thing with a big oak limb last month and used my Silky Bigboy instead of firing up the Stihl. Thought I was being smart but then my shoulder was killing me the next day from all the sawing, so maybe I just need to pace myself better. Still feels good to get the workout without the noise and gas smell though.

Well I have to say, "my shoulder was killing me the next day" really caught me off guard. You'd think using a handsaw would be easier on the body than a chainsaw, but I guess all that repetitive motion adds up fast. I definitely need to remember that next time I'm tempted to take the quiet route with a big job.
