That Tuesday when every branch I dropped decided to bounce sideways

Had a 30 foot oak limb hung up in the canopy last week near Portland, spent 45 minutes trying to free it without wrecking the fence below. Then my climbing saw battery died mid-cut on the next limb and I had to repack the whole rig to swap it. Anyone else have days where the tree just fights back at every step?

Hung up in the canopy" - yeah, had that exact thing with a big maple last fall. Tied a throwline with a heavy nut to shake it loose from the ground, works way faster than climbing up to poke at it.

Read this tip somewhere online that you can also tie a small sandbag to the line instead of a nut if you're worried about damaging the bark on the way down. Always wanted to try that trick with a long pole saw from the ground first, but that canopy hang is pretty stubborn sometimes. How heavy did you go on the nut size for your maple?
