That Bradford pear job near Austin that almost killed me last spring
I was cutting a 30 foot Bradford pear in someone's backyard off Parmer Lane last April. Tree looked healthy from the ground but as soon as I got my rope tied high, the whole trunk split right down the middle. The half I wasn't on peeled off and slammed into their fence. Turns out the tree had included bark and a weak crotch that you couldn't see from below. I got lucky it didn't swing back into my saddle. Anyone else had a close call with these garbage trees when they looked fine on the outside?

I had a Bradford pear collapse on me in Round Rock a couple years ago. Looked totally solid from the ground but the whole crown just gave way when I got my weight on it. These trees are CRAP, they look nice for two weeks then threaten to kill you every time you climb them.

I heard a Texas A&M arborist say they're basically grown like weeds with terrible wood, @tylerw92.
