Stumbled on a 3 year old oak reduction photo today...
Took a massive overgrown live oak from 60 feet down to 35, and three years later the growth is perfect - no suckers, even canopy spread, the works. Anyone else had a reduction come out better than you planned?

You said 'three years later the growth is perfect no suckers even canopy spread the works.' I mean, are we calling no visible problems after 3 years a win now? That's like bragging your car started this morning. Give it another 5 years and see how that reduction really settled in before you start writing home about it.

Double down on what grant_palmer said - three years is NOTHING in tree time, that's like judging a cake while it's still batter in the bowl. Wait until years 6 to 8 when those old cuts start reacting and the whole thing shifts, THEN you'll see if it was actually a win or just beginner's luck.
