Saw a guy take a top out with no face cut in Boise last week
I was doing a removal job in Boise last Tuesday when I heard the saw stop and then a crack I won't forget. The other climber on site had skipped the face cut and just back cut a 40 foot cottonwood top, and it barber chaired on him. He bailed out of the tree and hit the ground hard, but the rope caught him about 6 feet up. He walked away with a busted shoulder and a bruised ego. Took us 2 hours to clear the hung up top and we lost the whole afternoon. I've been thinking about it all week and I keep going back to that first cut. What do you all do when you work with someone who cuts corners like that? I'm not trying to be the safety police but I don't want to be on a job when someone gets killed either.
