I finally had a perfect day of pruning with zero mistakes

Last Tuesday in Austin, I was trimming a huge live oak and the whole job went smooth. No dropped branches, no busted ropes, just clean cuts and good positioning from 8 AM to noon. The homeowner even brought out cold water and said my work looked like a sculpture. Has anyone else had a day where everything just clicked without any screw ups?

Is bragging about trimming a tree really that deep of an achievement?

lmao @the_vera it's not about the tree itself, it's about the fact that you didn't die doing it. Some people post a picture of a neat hedge and it's like they climbed Everest. But honestly seeing a clean trim after you've been up a ladder with a chainsaw is a solid feeling. It's a small win but in a world where everything is chaos, trimming a bush into a nice shape feels like you actually accomplished something. Plus the neighbors will talk about it for weeks lol.

My neighbor's boxwood was basically a freeform blob when I moved in and I spent a whole Saturday shaping it into a dome. Took me like three tries to get the top curve right and I had to keep stepping back and looking at it from different angles. The thing that got me was how the light hits it different now in the afternoon, like the whole yard looks more put together. I ended up buying a pair of those long handled hedge shears because my arms were sore for days after using the little hand ones. It's not climbing Everest but it's definitely one of those things where you look at it and go yeah I did that.
