Choosing between a bucket truck and a crane for a big maple removal

I had a job in Springfield last month to take down a huge sugar maple that was leaning over a garage. The owner wanted it gone fast, and I had to pick between renting a 60 foot bucket truck for the day or hiring a crane service. I went with the crane because the tree's weight and the tight drop zone made it safer. It cost about $800 more, but we got it done in three hours with no damage. Has anyone else had to make that call on a tight urban job?

Remember that time a crane almost took out a power line?

Only three hours for a maple that big? How did you even get a crane in there that fast?

$800 extra is a steal for avoiding a garage pancake. Crane wins every time on tight urban jobs.
