Bucked up and picked a 372XP over a 462 for that big oak today

Had this massive red oak that was leaning bad over a garage. Spent like 20 minutes going back and forth between my Husqvarna 372XP and the Stihl 462. Ended up grabbing the 372 because it has that extra grunt at lower RPMs and I needed smooth control near the roof. Got it wedged and falling exactly where I aimed it, no damage to the structure. Anyone else have a go-to saw for sketchy leaners that they always reach for?

Having that extra grunt at lower RPMs" - that's exactly what my buddy Mike said before he dropped a nasty leaner last spring. He grabbed his 372XP over the 462 too, said the torque let him feather the throttle while keeping the chain moving through the heavy wood. The oak landed three feet from his barn wall with maybe six inches of clearance on both sides.

Dude, YES! That's literally the exact reason I grabbed my 372 when my neighbor's big maple started leaning toward his shed. @felixw99 Mike sounds like he knows his stuff. I ran a 462 one time on a similar situation and it just didn't have that same low-end grunt to let me ease into the back cut. Ended up having to chunk it down way more than I wanted, took twice as long. Big classic saws like the 372 just give you that confidence when you're shaving it close to a building or a fence.
