Bought a cheap pole pruner for $60 and the head snapped off on the third branch I cut

Spent a Saturday afternoon fishing my broken saw head out of a neighbor's maple tree after the cheap aluminum pole just gave out on a 2 inch limb, anyone else had luck with the mid range fiberglass ones instead?

Oh man that's rough... I had almost the exact same thing happen with a cheap extendable hedge trimmer. The head just took a vacation right into the neighbor's bushes. It's like the whole "you get what you pay for" thing is actually a law of physics or something. I notice it everywhere now, from tools to furniture to even my phone charger cables. The cheap ones always seem to break at the worst possible moment, right when you're almost done with the job. I've started thinking of it as the "mid range sweet spot" for anything that has to handle real stress, because the bottom end is just designed to fail.

That $20 hedge trimmer was definitely designed to fail right at the 95% mark, it's like they engineered the breaking point specifically for maximum frustration. The mid range sweet spot is real though, I've noticed everything from drill bits to lawn mowers seems to have that magical price point where they actually work without falling apart.
