Vent: my NES looked like trash on a flat screen until I found one setting buried in the menu
I hooked my old NES up to a hand me down 32 inch TV in my apartment in Columbus and the picture was so blurry I could barely read the text in Metroid, it stayed that way for about 2 months while I figured the TV was just too new for it. Then I dug through the picture menu and turned off a thing called noise reduction plus switched the input to game mode, and suddenly the blocks went sharp and the flicker almost went away in like 5 minutes of fiddling. Did anyone else have to turn off a pile of junk settings on their set, or is my TV just weird?
Disagree that your TV is weird. Most flat screens have that junk turned on by default and it messes with retro stuff. Flipping it to game mode and killing noise reduction is pretty much the standard fix, not some hidden secret.
