Unpopular opinion: the retro gaming store in Portland is a total mess
I went to that big one on Burnside last weekend and half their old consoles were just sitting on a shelf with no power cords. Saw a perfectly good Sega Genesis with a sticky reset button they hadn't even tried to clean. How can you sell something you haven't even plugged in?

Ever try calling them out on it? I told a guy at a shop once his stuff was dirty and he actually tested it for me.

Yeah sometimes you gotta just ask, it's surprising how often they'll check. I had a barista remake my drink last week after I pointed out the machine looked gross, and they were cool about it. Just be polite but direct, most places don't want to serve dirty stuff. If they get mad, that's a pretty good sign you shouldn't be buying from them anyway.
