Took me 3 months to fix a loose joystick on my Atari 2600
I found my old Atari 2600 in the basement and the joystick felt like jelly, so I figured a quick screwdriver turn would fix it. Turns out the internal plastic bracket was cracked and I tried glue, tape, and even a 3D printed part from a friend in Austin before I finally swapped in a donor stick from a $15 eBay lot. Has anyone else wasted way too much time on a simple controller fix, or am I the only one who refused to just buy a new one?

Did your friend actually make it through all that, or did they give up halfway? My buddy once spent a whole weekend rebuilding a NES controller with zip ties and a pencil eraser, just to avoid paying $12 for a new one. He finally caved when the eraser caught fire.
