Swapped out a dead IDE drive for a Compact Flash card in my old Power Mac

I was trying to get this G3 beige tower running again, and the old hard drive kept clicking. Threw in a 16GB CF card with a IDE adapter and it booted right up, no noise at all. Anybody gone the SSD route instead for these old Macs, and was it worth the extra trouble?

cf cards are way more reliable in my experience, ssds can be finicky with old ide controllers.

You just gotta grab a quality cf to ide adapter and it works every time.
