Stopped by a flea market in Ohio and found a working Commodore 64 for $40
I was driving through rural Ohio last Friday and stopped at this big flea market near Millersburg. In the back corner under a table I spotted a Commodore 64 with the original box and a stack of floppy disks. The guy wanted $40 for it so I figured why not take a chance. Got it home and after cleaning the connectors with some rubbing alcohol it fired right up. The disk drive made some noise at first but it reads games fine now. Anyone else ever luck into old computers at flea markets or garage sales like that?

Used to think those old computers were just junk taking up space, but seeing yours working actually changed my mind on that. There's something cool about the simplicity of it, like you can actually fix everything with some isopropyl alcohol and patience. Maybe I'll stop checking out a few more flea markets this summer lol.

Oh man, I know exactly what you mean. It's like these old machines have a soul or something, you just have to be patient and they'll come back to life. I had a similar experience with a dusty Commodore I found at a garage sale, and fixing it up was the MOST satisfying thing I've done all year. That feeling when you clean the contacts and the screen finally flickers on... it's precious. Don't give up on those flea markets, sometimes the best finds are the ones everyone else walks right past.
