My Sega Genesis died mid game of Sonic 2 and I opened it up expecting the worst
I was about 3 zones into Sonic 2 on Saturday when the screen just froze and the sound cut out with this awful buzz. I pulled the console out, grabbed my dads old screwdriver set, and opened the shell for the first time since I got it at a garage sale in 2019 for 15 bucks. The power jack was loose and one of the pins on the cart slot was bent flat, so I gently nudged it back up with a tiny flathead and cleaned the whole board with rubbing alcohol and q tips. It booted right up and has run fine for 3 days now, but should I reflow that power jack solder joint or just leave it alone since its working?
