My 20 year old CRT monitor just let out a puff of smoke and died while I was trying to play Half Life 2
It happened Tuesday night, I smelled ozone first then saw a little smoke from the top vent, so I yanked the plug and now I'm wondering if it's even worth trying to find someone to fix it or if I should just give up and go find a replacement on Craigslist before they all get tossed.

it let out a puff of smoke and died" - honestly that's the best possible outcome here lol. That CRT was on borrowed time anyway, and fixing a 20 year old monitor that literally smoked out is gonna cost more than finding a decent flat panel on facebook marketplace for like 40 bucks. Half Life 2 looks way better on a modern LCD with higher resolution anyway, trust me I played through it last year on a 27 inch 1080p panel and it was totally fine. Plus those old CRTs weigh a ton and take up your whole desk, you're better off just grabbing something from this decade and moving on.
