Lost a whole Saturday trying to fix a 1970s turntable...
I picked up a Dual 1219 from a flea market last month for $35. It played fine for about two weeks then started skipping all over the place. I spent like 6 hours taking it apart, cleaning the mechanism, and adjusting the tonearm weight. Turns out I just needed to replace the old rubber idler wheel... the original one had hard spots that were slipping. Got a new one online for $12 and it works perfect now. Has anyone else dealt with a bad idler wheel on these older Dual tables?

Man that's the story of my life with older gear. It's always the dumb simple part you overlook while you chase some complicated fix. Kind of like how my car was making a weird noise for weeks and I rebuilt the whole suspension before realizing it was just a loose heat shield rattling.

That $12 fix is the kind of thing that makes you laugh and cry at the same time... @anthony_fox90 your loose heat shield story is giving me flashbacks to when I spent a whole weekend rewiring a receiver before realizing the speaker wire was just touching a metal table leg. Did you actually order the idler wheel from a specific website or just find it on eBay?
