I finally stopped trying to clean old cartridge slots with a paper towel
I was getting constant read errors on my NES until a friend in Austin pointed out the tiny fibers I was leaving behind. Now I use a cotton swab with a tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol and it works every time. Anyone have a better method for cleaning those 72-pin connectors?

Paper towel fibers are the worst for that. Cotton swab and alcohol is the classic move. I've heard of people using a credit card wrapped in a thin cloth, but that always seemed risky. Honestly, just bending the pins back a little with a small tool did more for me than any cleaning.

Honestly @taylor929, is this even a common problem? I mean, how often are pins getting so messed up that you need a full cleaning kit? Maybe it's just me but I've built a few PCs and never had to bend pins back. A quick blow of air usually gets any dust out. Feels like people are making a bigger deal out of it than it really is.
