I finally hit 100,000 miles on my 1990 Volvo 240 and it just woke up

Bought this wagon 8 years ago with 212,000 miles on it. Last Tuesday I rolled over to 300,000 total miles. The odometer still works somehow. What surprised me is that at 300k the engine actually feels smoother than it did at 230k. Has anyone else had a car run better after a certain mileage threshold?

Ha, yeah my old Ford Ranger did the same thing. I swear once I passed 180k miles the engine stopped shaking like it was hungover and actually started humming along. Makes no sense but I'll take it as a win for the weirdos.

Wait, did yours do that whole weird clattering sound right before it smoothed out too? Mine did that around 160k and I thought it was gonna blow up. I just started running high mileage oil with a little Lucas additive and it honestly quieted down after two oil changes. That old Ranger is still chugging along at 220k now, no joke. Sometimes you just gotta let 'em work out their own kinks I guess.
