Found a trick to fix old Nintendo cartridge save batteries without soldering

I had a Zelda cart that kept losing saves and didnt want to mess with a soldering iron. Tried using a bit of aluminum foil folded over to bridge the battery contact and wedge it tighter - been working fine for 3 months now. Anyone else use a ghetto fix like this that held up?

Doesn't the aluminum eventually corrode or shift around in there? I feel like it would work for a bit but that's a pretty risky fix for a save file you care about.

Oh I used to think exactly the same way. But after seeing a few posts like this actually hold up for years I had to admit I was wrong.
