Can we talk about the capacitor that popped in my 1989 Game Boy at my kitchen table in Tucson?

I was playing Tetris and suddenly the screen went dark with a loud pop, so I opened it up and found a leaked capacitor near the power switch. Replaced it with a $2 part from a local electronics shop and it fired right back up. Has anyone else had a Game Boy die on them like that?
