Tried using distilled water for my final wash, the results surprised me

I've always just used tap water for the last rinse on my film, figured it was fine. Last week I grabbed a gallon of distilled water from the grocery store for like $1.50, thinking what's the harm. When I hung the negatives to dry I noticed way fewer water spots and the film looked cleaner overall. Has anyone else switched and noticed a real difference, or was I just lucky with that batch?

Hold up, did you run any distilled water through your developing tank BEFORE the final wash? I used to skip that step and still saw spots, then someone told me to do a quick rinse with distilled right after the photo-flo step. That little change made a bigger difference than the final wash itself for me.
