Tried stand development with Rodinal on some expired Tri-X from 1998

Pulled a roll of Tri-X that expired in 1998 out of my dad's old fridge last week. Decided to try stand development with Rodinal at 1:100 for an hour because I figured the film would be pretty fogged anyway. The negatives came out mostly clear with super thin grain but almost no contrast at all. Did I mess up the agitation or is that just what you get with 20+ year old film?

Stand developing in Rodinal always feels like a crapshoot to me, honestly.

Call it the same feeling I get cooking without a timer. You're guessing the whole time, hoping the heat and time line up right. Most things need a little more control than faith.
