Thought the hairspray trick for dust on negatives was nonsense, then I tried it on a roll from 1987
A guy at the camera swap in Omaha swore by a light mist of cheap aerosol hairspray on a cloth to pick dust off old negatives, and I rolled my eyes hard. I had 4 rolls from my dad's old Konica that were covered in junk, so I figured I had nothing to lose. One light pass, wait about 10 seconds, then wipe with a dry microfiber, and the dust lifted right off without scratching the emulsion like my usual canned air does. I did have to toss the cloth after each roll and keep the spray far from the lens area, so it is not a cure all. Has anyone else tried this, and does it leave residue over time?
