Spent 4 hours trying to fix a light leak on my Pentax K1000

I went through three rolls of film and kept getting these weird orange streaks. Turned out the foam seal on the back door was completely disintegrated, took me literally 5 minutes to replace once I figured it out. Has anyone else wasted that much time on something this stupid?

Oh man, four hours... I feel that in my bones. I spent a whole afternoon once trying to figure out why my negs were coming out hazy, and it was just a fingerprint on the lens I kept ignoring. The K1000 foam is basically guaranteed to turn to dust, it's like a right of passage at this point. At least you didn't start tearing the camera apart trying to replace the shutter curtains... I've heard stories.

Argue the opposite all you want, but honestly four hours on lens cleaning is kind of a waste when you could just shoot with the haze and call it "vintage vibes" now. The foam turning to dust is just free character for your shots, lol.
