PSA: stop using dish soap on your scratched negatives, it left white haze on my grandpa's 1968 beach pics

I read a forum tip about a drop of Dawn to clean scratches and it stripped the emulsion on 3 frames from Ocean City. Has anyone found a fix for haze that actually works, or am I stuck rescanning what's left?
