Hot take: I stopped using a changing bag for 35mm and never looked back

For years I loaded film into tanks inside a big black changing bag, fighting with sweaty hands and the fear of unrolling the spool by accident. Last spring I got tired of it after a botched roll of Tri-X got fogged because the bag had a tiny pinhole I never noticed. I switched to using a dark closet in my laundry room, the one with no windows, and I just close the door and turn off the light. Honestly, it takes the same amount of time but I can actually see what I'm doing with my fingers, not guessing in a cramped sack. The only real risk is someone walking in, so I put a chair against the door and tell my roommate not to touch the knob for ten minutes. Has anyone else ditched the bag for a dark room or even a big cardboard box, and how do you handle the paranoia of stray light?
