Homemade stop bath vs. store brand on a roll of Tri-X
I used plain white vinegar at 1:20 for years, then tried the actual Kodak Indicator Stop Bath on a roll from a hike near Mount Hood. The vinegar worked fine, no ruined negatives, but the indicator stuff showed me exactly when the bath was exhausted and cut my wash time down to about 4 minutes instead of guessing. That blue to yellow shift is worth the 9 bucks to me. Has anyone else compared cheap alternatives and stuck with the name brand for a specific reason?

The vinegar fumes made my darkroom smell like a salad bar...
