Rant: the lab tech at Foto Express in San Jose told me my dev tank was too hot and she was right
I dropped off two rolls of HP5 at Foto Express in San Jose last week and the tech asked me what temp I was developing at. I said 75 degrees because my tap water runs warm in summer and I figured close enough. She shook her head and pulled out a thermometer, showed me my negatives were way too thin in the shadows. I switched to a water bath with ice to hold 68 degrees for the next batch and the difference was night and day on the same film. Does anyone else fight their tap water temp or am I the only one who got lazy about it?
