Overheard a guy at the thrift store say he develops film in his bathtub

Was browsing for old camera bags and this guy next to me was telling his friend he uses a Paterson tank and just balances it on the edge of the tub. No darkroom, no fancy setup. Said he even uses tap water at whatever temperature comes out. Made me think about all the gear I've been saving up for. I've got a whole list of stuff I 'need' before I start developing at home. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Has anyone else tried developing with super basic stuff and had it work out okay?

Nah, temperature matters way more than people want to admit.

Wait, tap water at whatever temp comes out? That sounds wild to me. I mean I get being budget conscious but I would be too scared of getting inconsistent results or weird color shifts. I'd probably still try it myself just to see what happens, but I'd use a cheap thermometer from Amazon for like $5 first just to know what I'm dealing with.
