Ditched my darkroom thermometer for a cheap instant read food thermometer last month
My old lab thermometer broke so I grabbed a $12 Taylor from the grocery store and my negatives came out cleaner than they have in 2 years, has anyone else tried cooking gear for film processing?

Oh absolutely, that Taylor probe has been my go-to for years now (way cheaper than anything at the photo store). My temps are way more consistent since I switched, and the negatives definitely show it.

Oh man, I had the same thing happen with my old lab thermometer... once I switched to a proper probe I couldn't believe how off I'd been running my developer. Just makes a huge difference for consistency.
