Appreciation post: my lab scans looked flat until I switched to one-hour photo at the drugstore on 5th
For 8 months I was paying a mail order lab $18 a roll and loving the scans, or so I thought. Two Saturdays ago my local Walgreens on 5th did a roll for $9 and the shadows opened up so much I thought they messed up the order. Is it just me, or do cheap mini lab scans hold highlights better than the fancy mail order ones?

Honestly flat scans usually mean the mail order lab crushed your shadows, not saved the highlights.
