Wasted $800 on a wireless alarm system that kept dropping sensors

I thought going wireless would save me hours of running wires through attics. Installed a full system in a 3 bedroom house and by day 3 the back door sensor was offline every morning. Spent 2 weekends troubleshooting interference from the neighbor's wifi router. Finally ripped it all out and went back to hardwired. Anybody else find these wireless systems more trouble than they are worth?

you said it exactly right... "simple connections just WORKING" is the whole thing. i wasted all weekend fighting with a door sensor that would just forget it existed. never again.

My neighbor spent $1,200 on a smart thermostat that kept disconnecting from his phone app. That thing would work fine for a week then just give up at 2 AM when the heat went out. I see this pattern everywhere now with all this smart home stuff. The companies rush to sell you convenience but they never tell you how flaky the basic connection can be. My grandparents had a 20 year old wired thermostat that never failed once. It boils down to simple connections just WORKING versus adding extra steps that can break. Sometimes the old way is the boring way but at least it actually does the job.
