Walked into a new bank branch in Springfield and their alarm panel was just... out in the open.

I was there to set up a business account last week, and right behind the main counter, clear as day, was a DSC Neo panel. No lock box, no cover, just sitting on a shelf with the keypad next to it. The main power and backup battery wires were just looped and hanging down. I could see the installer label was from a big national company, too. It just blew my mind that a place holding cash would have such an easy point of failure where any customer could reach it. A simple metal cabinet would have fixed it. I almost said something to the manager but figured it wasn't my place. Has anyone else run into a job from another company that was just left this bad in a public spot?

Would you believe I saw the same thing at a credit union? I actually did speak up because it made me so nervous... I just told the teller it looked like their alarm system was in the open and maybe they should check with their manager. They had it locked up by my next visit. Sometimes people just don't notice until someone points it out.

Doubt most people would even know what they're looking at. The average customer isn't an alarm tech looking for a weak spot. It's sloppy work for sure, but probably not the huge risk people are making it out to be.

That's a huge security risk.

Honestly that's a shockingly bad install, I'd be worried too.
