Spent 9 hours chasing a ground loop on a 12 zone panel in Boise
Had a job last month where the keypad kept beeping random fault codes on zone 7, and I swapped the sensor, the wiring, even the keypad itself before I figured it out. Turns out a cheap LED shop light the homeowner hung in the garage was backfeeding noise onto the common, and a $4 ferrite bead fixed what I spent 9 hours on. Back when I started, panels were dumb as rocks and a fault was always a fault, now everything is sensitive to whatever junk is plugged in nearby. Any of you keep a stash of ferrites in the truck for this kind of thing, or do you just start yanking breakers until the noise quits?
