Serious question, on-call weekends splitting our alarm tech crew
My shop just made on-call duty mandatory for all techs, covering full weekends. Half the team likes the bonus cash, but the other half says it ruins their family time and leaves them tired for Monday jobs. How does your company balance on-call without pushing people to quit?

I always figured the bonus cash made on-call worth it. Then our warehouse tried a similar system and half the team got so run down they started looking for other jobs. Now I get why flexible rotations matter.

Hey, did you catch what happened at that call center that tried fat on-call bonuses? They had no fixed schedule, so employees got woke up by calls at all hours. Lost four good people in two months before they set up a proper shift rotation. @taylor.jessica, your point about rotations hits home after seeing that mess.

Notice how this on-call mess shows up in lots of jobs. Like @theawells said, no schedule means chaos and lost staff. I've seen it in repair shops where guys quit after constant weekend calls. A fixed rotation with fair rest days is the only way to make it work without driving people away.
