Dropped $400 on a cellular communicator that gets zero bars at my own house
Just want to give everyone a heads up before you make the same mistake I did. I bought one of those fancy cellular alarm communicators for my shop and it was dead on arrival because I never checked the signal in my area first. I assumed because I get 2 bars on my phone that it would be fine, but this thing needed at least 3 to even register on the network. I called tech support and the guy said "you should have tested with an actual alarm panel before buying" which was not helpful at all. Now I'm stuck with a $400 brick sitting on my shelf. The crazy part is I have installed probably 50 of these for customers and never once had this problem until it was my own money. Has anyone found a cheap way to test signal strength without buying the actual communicator first?

Did you try the free signal checker apps before buying?
