Bought a cheap cable tester from an online marketplace for $25 and it cost me a full day's work.
The thing gave me false positives on three separate runs. I was chasing a 'short' on a new install in a two-story house that didn't exist. Ended up pulling all the wire again before I finally grabbed my old Fluke from the truck. The whole morning was gone. What's the most reliable tester you guys actually trust for daily use? I'm done trying to save a few bucks on tools that waste my time.

Man, that's the worst feeling. So you basically had to redo the whole job because of a bad tool? I've been burned by cheap testers before, but never that bad. What model Fluke did you end up using to find the real problem?

Yeah, that "redo the whole job" part hits hard. I grabbed a Fluke 1507 after my last cheap tester fail. Thing just works, no drama.

Ever have one of those days where you just want to throw the cheap tool in the trash? My old Fluke Microscanner2 has never let me down like that... it's the only one I grab for new work now. That false positive mess is exactly why I stopped buying bargain bin testers.
