A guy in Reno said 85% of false alarms come from 3 zones, and I can't stop thinking about it
I was at a training in Reno last month and the instructor said 85% of false alarms come from just 3 zones: motion detectors near vents, door contacts on loose frames, and glass breaks facing windows with blinds. Half the room nodded like this was old news, but the other half argued that cheap sensors and bad wiring are the real problem, not placement. Which one is it, are we fixing placement or are we just selling better gear to cover up sloppy installs?
Doubt the 85% thing is as clean as the instructor made it sound, since made up stats are a classic training room move. Even if placement causes most false alarms, a cheap sensor in a bad spot is still a cheap sensor and better gear will not fix a loose door frame. We keep going in circles on this instead of just admitting both problems are real and picking which one is cheaper to fix first.
