Why does nobody talk about the torque wrench that lies to you
Had a stab at a nose gear actuator on a King Air 200 at our hangar in Reno two Tuesdays back, and my click type torque wrench popped at what felt like 40 foot pounds when the spec called for 60. Pulled the wrench, threw it on the calibrator, and it was reading 18 percent low, so I had been under torquing half the panel for who knows how long. The tool guy admitted it had not been checked since 2021 and shrugged it off like it was no big deal. How often are you guys actually sending your clickers out, and do you trust the beam style more?
