Took me 6 months to admit I was stripping bolts the wrong way

I always thought more torque meant a tighter fit on these panel screws but after snapping my third #10 in a row, a senior guy named Dave pulled me aside in the hangar and showed me the difference between using a torque wrench versus just going by feel. He literally handed me a scrap bracket and had me test it myself on the bench, and I saw the threads getting chewed up under the light. Has anyone else had to unlearn something basic like this after years of doing it wrong?

Dave had me do the exact same thing with a broken rivet gun.

Ugh, that is so frustrating. I swear some people just want to make you look stupid in front of the customer when it's their own mistake. It's like Dave couldn't be bothered to check the gun himself before handing it over. I've been in that exact spot where you're the one who looks bad even though you're just following orders. It really grinds my gears when a coworker throws you under the bus like that. Hope you got through it okay without too much pushback from the client.
